The Association
The Widdrington Village Residents’ Association was reformed in February 2024 to strengthen community spirit and enhance village life. Our goal is to represent residents’ views and provide a platform for raising local concerns. A key focus is organising events and activities that bring people together, celebrate our village, and foster a sense of pride among residents. By encouraging participation and collaboration, we aim to create a vibrant, welcoming community for everyone.
Meet The Team
Rebecca Glanville
Chair
Originally from the East Riding of Yorkshire, I moved to the North East to study Music at Newcastle University and the Sage Gateshead. I am now Head of Primary Music at a multi academy Trust and have a passion for Creative Arts projects.
I have lived in the village for approximately 8 years and enjoy bringing my young family to community events - especially if there is cake!
It is my hope that the relaunched WVRA will provide more opportunities to bring the community together as well as organising projects which will make us proud of the area we live in.
Debbie Naisby
Vice Chair
I grew up in London, moving to the North East in the 1970’s. Following a spell living in Brighton, I moved to Widdrington Village with my husband John in 1993. I am now retired having spent 43 years working in the public sector.
I enjoy retirement, pottering around in the garden, visiting National Trust parks, reading and walking my 3 year old deaf border collie, Teddy.
I am looking forward to being an active member of the WRVA helping to restore community participation to enhance the living environment of the village and local area.
